What we collect directly

Almost nothing, unless you hand it to us. Reading the site requires no account and no sign-up.

If you enter an email address to have a cost estimate sent to you, we store that address and the estimate it belongs to. We use it to send you the estimate and, if you asked for it, occasional follow-ups about water heater pricing. We don't sell it, we don't rent it, and we don't add it to anyone else's list. Every message we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the address.

If you fill in the contact form or email us, we keep the message so we can answer it.

The ZIP code and job details you type into the calculator are used in your browser to produce the estimate. They only reach us if you choose to have the estimate emailed.

What gets collected automatically

Our host records standard server logs: IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. We use those to keep the site running and to see roughly how much traffic it gets.

We don't run a third-party analytics tracker on this site. If we add one, it goes into the table below before it goes live, not after.

Advertising and cookies

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

We apply the same policy to everyone regardless of where they are: you can see it, correct it, or have it deleted. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children

This site is for adults making a home repair decision. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and it's gone.

Security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS. We keep email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and contact messages for two years. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll change the date at the top of the page and say what changed. We don't quietly edit it.
